Statement of the Media Advocacy Coalition on the shooting at David Eradze’s house

Reportedly, Rustavi 2 TV journalist Davit Eradze’s house was shot at. The Ministry of Internal Affairs launched an investigation under Article 236, which implies illegal purchase, storage, carrying, manufacturing, transportation, forwarding or sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices.

According to Rustavi 2 TV, Davit Eradze obtained a video footage of the fight occurred at the Sports Palace, which depicts the President of the Wrestling Federation hitting the wrestler Zurab Datunashvili in the face.

Media Advocacy Coalition believes that it is necessary to establish whether this action was related to his journalistic activities and in case of confirmation of this fact, relevant qualification should be given to the case.

In order to prevent such incidents, the coalition calls upon investigative bodies to quickly, fully and properly investigate the mentioned fact.
