Tamaz Akhobadze starts a hunger strike

Tamaz Akhobadze addressed to the most extreme form of protest and started a hunger strike. Inaction of the state institutions, which was demonstrated in non-enforcement of court decision entered into legal force, forced Tamaz to choose this form of protest. As public is aware, with the assistance of GYLA, Tamaz Akhobadze successfully completed the dispute against Center for Crime Prevention  in courts of all instances (among them, twice in the Supreme Court) and proved that he was illegally dismissed from his job. The Court found that dismissal of Tamaz Akhobadze from his job was due to subjective attitude of particular officials, which was not connected with quality of the employee work and his competence. Multi-year court dispute finally completed on September 15, 2017 and Center for Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Justice was ordered to reinstate Tamaz Akhobadze to work and remunerate for the period of forced absence from the service before the reinstatement.

GYLA once again calls on:

Center for Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Justice - To execute court decision immediately, to reinstate Tamaz Akhobadze to work and remunerate for the period of forced absence from the service.

The bodies of the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia - to launch investigation into the present case and establish whether the crime signs in the actions of the relevant persons are identified.

National Bureau of Enforcement - to take appropriate measures and execute court decision entered into legal force.
