Tbilisi City Court has announced the guilty verdict against the abuser and sentenced him to 6 months imprisonment. GYLA defended the interests of the female victim in this case.

The victim of the domestic violence had been systematically harassed by her ex-husband. The last case was reported in December 2017, when the abuser breached the terms of the restraint order and threatened the victim to kill.

When announcing the verdict, the judge explained that the court took into consideration the fact of violating the terms of the restraint order and the circumstance that the offense was committed by one member of the family against the other, which in itself constitutes an aggravating circumstance.
