Tamar Oniani

Strategic Litigation Lawyer

Tamar Oniani has been working as a Strategic Litigation Lawyer of GYLA since August 2018.

In 2018, Tamar has undergone six months internship at the Analytical Department of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia;

In 2017-2018, she was a vice president for academic activities at the European Law Students' Association;

From 2017 until now - she is a scientific assistant at David Batonishvili Institute of Law;

In 2017, she was assistant of a criminal lawyer at Georgian Young Lawyers' Association;

In 2016, she has undergone internship at the Human Rights Center;


In regard to the European Court of Human Rights and litigation in the Court, Tamar is representative of the case Zurab Japaridze versus Georgia (2018);


Tamar has participated in the following training seminars:

- Winter School of Justice (2019);

- Summer Schools on Constitutional and Human Rights Law (2017-2018);

- Summer Course "The European System of Human Rights Protection" (2018, Frankfurt);

- 2nd Training Session of René-Cassin Foundation in International Criminal Law (2018);

- Winter School "International Criminal Law Challenges and Georgia" (2018);

- European Compliance Conference (2017, Brussels);

- Summer School "Freedom of Religion in the practice of Constitutional Court of Georgia, Supreme Court of the United States and European Court of Human Rights" (2017);


Tamar is the author of six conference works and translations. She is also the author and organizer of the idea of up to 10 student's projects in the field of legal education.


Tamar Oniani graduated from Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Law (Cum Laude). Now she is studying at English language master's program of international law at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA).
