GYLA nominated candidates for the membership in the High Council of Justice

Amendments were introduced to the Organic Law on Common Courts, which is of a decisive importance in reforming judiciary and for ensuring its independence. 

 
The rule of manning the High Council of Justice has changed considerably, the procedures became more transparent and democratic. NGO were given chance to nominate candidates, that are not judges, for membership in the High Council of Justice and to submit them to the Parliament.  
 
In view of the mentioned legislative amendments, GYLA will nominate the following candidates for membership in the High Council of Justice:

Nino Bakakuri 
She has 16 years of working experience as a lawyer and three years of working experience as a judge. In 1998-2004 she worked in GYLA as a lawyer and in Georgian Judges’ Association as an advisor. In 2004-2008 she was a judge at Administrative Chamber of Tbilisi Appellate Court, since 2008 she has been working in a law firm “Nodia, Urumashvili and Partners” and is one of the partners of the firm. 
  
Nino Bakakuri has LLM from Columbia University in New York. In 2002-2003 she was an international law researcher at law school of Georgetown University. She has passed lawyers’ and judges’ qualification exams, as well as lawyers’ exam of the New-York state. 
 
Nino Bakakuri is a member of the bar association of the New-York state. She is lecturing in comparative corporate law, corporate management and business law in various universities of Georgia.  
 
Zurab Dzlierishvili 
Doctor of Law. Member of Ethics Commission at Georgian Bar Association since 2009; The arbiter at Tbilisi Arbitration Institute since 2009; Consultant at various law firms since 2001; 
Member of disciplinary board of common court judges at High Council of Justice in 2004-2006. Has long pedagogic experience; 
Is author of many researches, works and scientific articles. 
 
Kakha Tsikarishvili 
He has been an expert of UNDP program since 2012. Has LLM from Washington Law College of American University. 
In 1994-1999 he studied at Tbilisi Ivane Javakhishvili State University, at the Law faculty. 
Is an author of some researches; 
Knows Georgian, English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Russian languages.
